Power Steering Pump on a 961

I need to rebuild the power steering pump on my 961. My question is did the ford cars and trucks use this same pump in the late 50's and early 60's so that NAPA would be carrying the parts I need?

It depends upon which pump your tractor has. The early pump is known as the sleeve pump and it is not rebuildable nor available through the aftermarket suppliers. This pump uses an outer canister as the reservoir and my 971 still has it"s original sleeve pump.
The later tractors got a new pump that has a separate reservoir mounted on top of the pump. Although this unit is not rebuildable the "65 Mustang used almost the exact same pump and new units are available. There is a modification that must be made to the Mustang pump to use it on the tractor (removal of a relief/check vavlve?). Perhaps someone who has done it will post here.
