power steering

Find a good donor tractor and replace the power steering.
You won't regret doing this if the tractor is good otherwise.
H and M should be the same, or very close. Lots of them in recycle yards.

I hate to steal the cheese from the other reply, but no H or M came with factory power steering. The only ones would be a late Super M or MTA. Also the 300 - 450s would have the Behlen units that would replace your factory PS unit. To answer your question the best thing you could do is to take the valving off that supplies the flow to the PS. I am not exactly sure what that would require. You cannot just plug the hose or it will be building pressure loading the pump. If you just let it circulate back into the return you will loose that flow for other hydraulic functions. If you do not use your tractor hydraulics that would be fine. I will attach a parts diagram for the steering system. I believe part 5 would need to be changed out to one from a non-power steering tractor. If you click on the attached diagram it will open like a picture to enlarge.

(quoted from post at 20:21:01 08/02/22) on a 350 farmall that the power steering has been removed. what would be the best thing to do with the pressure hose? thanks

Connect it directly to the return hose is the safe thing to do. You will lose some flow but you already were with the power steering.
