Power Troll Reservoir Question

I have seen some A and B tractors with an extension screwed on to the fill port of the Power Troll. I assume this is to add extra fluid capacity. I am currently having issues with the power troll and live hydraulic pump on my 51 A. It appears to be pumping A LOT of air and foaming whatever weight of oil I try to use, which is decreasing my raise speed on cylinders and rockshaft. I have used HyGard, (which worked perfect with the old pump) and Non Detergent 30 Weight Oil with similar speed and foaming results.
My questions:
Should I try to "prime" the pump by adding extra oil to the system? I figure i would do this by screwing some extra fittings on the fill port of the Power troll.
Would a vented cap help? Or would that suck more air than push?
Does anyone have any literature on these add on pumps they would be willing to share?
Why did guys add tanks and fittings to power trolls back in the day? Extra capacity sure but were there any other benefits?
Is my pump just wore out and I should bite the bullet take my two pumps to a hydraulic shop and make one good one?

Its a John Deere aftermarket kit that could be installed later. Page 130 of a Late Model A parts book. Mounts in between the governor and distributer with hoses running to the powertroll.

Here's an add-on auxiliary tank that could be screwed into the fill port on some Powr-Trol units for extra capacity, made by one of the loader manufacturers, I suspect.

Did you reseal the pump? The pump seal other governor side of the live pump is a suction seal. The sealing lip faces away from the gears towards the outside of the pump.

The pump seal on the governor side of the pump.
