power unit on Hood log loader

Hello I am helping a friend fix a Hood 2200 log
loader it has a JD engine in it they bought it from
a estate sale, the previous owner had done work to
the head now it seams to have a knock in the lower
end. I can't find a tag on it, dose anyone know what
engine they ran on them 6 cylinder no turbo.early
80's. I am guessing that the higher compression
from the fixed head put added stain on the rod
bearings. we have not took the pan off yet. any info
would be great. thanks Bryan

Can you furnish any engine block casting numbers?

Thanks for the reply The block No is R 72746 or 8
the oil filters were in the way . Intake manifold R
56618 JD the filter base R 56189 JD t The head has
three rows of NO's on it but I could not git under
the hood to read Them. Thanks Bryan
