Hello everyone,

I am back to working on my tractor after it has sat for several years. (5+) The govenor ring failed and the pump got taken apart. and it sat like that until last week. I ordered a seal kit, put it back together and the tractor will not run. If i hit it with some ether, with will attempt to idle but at full throttle. and slowly die.

During this i have done the following,

Ensure proper fuel flow from tank.
Disconnect the fuel return back to tank. To ensure no clog in the return line.
Metering valve is not stuck and moves freely.

Pump model: DBGVCC 429-14AJ
I do have the pump set to CC direction on the top of the pump along with the timing adjustment with in the pump for the pistons.

I did download and follow the exploaded diagrams of this pump. but to no avail, can i get this tractor to run today. Read several forums here about the pumps and different items to look at.

I am looking for opinions before i take the bullet and pay $1000 for a rebuild locally.

From what i can tell, the low pressure is working, but the high pressure is not. I have not changed any settings as far as i know. Other than when it was taken apart by my self, and then put back together. I did have all parts in a box, and used all parts putting it back together.

Thank you all
-Mike

Probably preaching to the choir; I hate to say it, but unless you
are a fuel injection trained specialist, it should probably go to
those that are. My pump with the same symptoms, also for my
901/961 Powermaster, is sitting in a USPS box waiting to be sent
out until I get a few more paychecks.

Maybe youve already checked out his thread, but Chicken
House Mechanic has nice videos specific to rebuilding one of
those pumps on YouTube for an early 4000 Row crop. He talks
about a few common issues you may want to review and its nice
to see it put back together correctly.

Thanks Tractor Dad, i will check out his videos. I have watched several from others so far as well.

Diesel Tech, Yes that is what i have been quoted here locally in Cincinnati. If i want to ship it out to someone it starts about $700.

I see you are located in indiana, Are you close to cincinnati? I'd be willing to drive it out if you are, and let you look at it. I do have another pump that needs rebuilt as well, for another powermaster tractor.

Thank you
-Mike

I sent the pump out for a low cost repair, no difference. After struggling for three more years I paid the local shop $702.00 to rebuild it. It has run great ever since.

I would suggest sending Dieseltech an
email and letting him take care of the
pump. He's good at it and is very
reasonable.

Mike, Here is who I sent my pump and injectors to get rebuilt for my 861D .
Erik was very very reasonable, one local shop and one in Nebraska were cost prohibitive and may not ever have worked on the old stuff.
Erik has worked on many of these ,give him a call and ask all the questions you can he was very helpful for me!
