powershift in reverse running pto

Hello, we just picked up a 2390 for second tractor, I'm curious about all the warnings about parking and leaving ps in reverse and doing pto work, what if the ps is left in reverse with tractor running without pto running? I ask because we are going to drill beans and we always back up to seed wagon, hook up hyd. remotes to run auger, and I know the ps is going to be left in reverse at some point, but pto is not being used. Does the same problem exist in this situation?

The same issue is present pto or not, the planetary is running at a very high speed at high Idle in reverse.

oops , mEl,, did not know that ,, I always thought the lack of oil occurred with pto engaged ,. SO IT IS BEST TO STAY OUT OF REVERSE position ,.. unless you need to back up ,,.

MeL is dead on!! Never, ever get out of the seat of a CASE Tractor w/ the Power Shift Lever in Reverse. It is also not a good idea to sit & talk long periods with the Clutch pedal depressed because the planetaries are whining away also. It is not an impossible procedure to put in place, because none of us here, including my wife, 3 daughters & son all followed the procedure set out above.
