Is not Indian Head a engine oil? and engine oil is what was called for in leter series and with all the letter series out there I would dought that JD would have called for something else in the number series as the cylinders would have been constantly switched from letter series tractors to number series and back again with the oil mixed from tractor to tractor. NG tractors are so much different that I could see requiring a hydrolic oil but not from the leter series to the number series.

The only Indian Head I'm familiar with is gasket shellac.

I know the 2 cyls called for engine oil in the hydraulics but some folks are using more modern implements that require hyd oil, thus my recommendation for Hy-Gard to avoid cross contamination.I

In the back of my mind I can see a red 2 1/2 gallon can with the painting of an indian chief on it but I cant put a name to it.

A little time spent on google shows there are Indian Chief, Red Indian, and Indian brands of motor oil.

There is no Indian Head brand motor oil.
