Pre-John Deere Passion......

This and other Pontiac restorations pre-dated my obsession with JD antiques. This one , my favorite , I've owned since 1981. Finished resto in 2000. Was in 10th grade when it was new and promised myself I would have one someday. Only the people on this site could understand why someone would turn to old 2cyl JD,s when they had something like this. I'm sure age had something to do with it. Randy.

The way those muscle cars have taken off in prices makes me wish I'd of spent my time and money on them and not all these tractors !

Amen to that brother.

A restored 1970 Chevelle will go for $80k, that was 3 years ago before the external_link economic collapse.

Nice 66. Still in pieces I have a 67 OHC6 sprint Bird. Took it apart in 88 when I was 18 and this summer I am going to work on it. As soon as I get my fathers Farmall H running. I will be working on it.

NICE 'Goat'!! Got Pontiacs out of my system after a '31 Sedan (paid $100-drove it away, spent 20 hrs. and sold it for $1200.00) and a '38 Sedan that I drove to work daily for 6mos. and used as a tow car for my '55 Chevy 'C' Gasser- still gots the trophys. Jeez you guys are gettin' old !!

'Back in the day', using those OHC sixes as a conversion into XKE's was a horrible thing(so says the purists)-but they took a couple of hundred pounds off the front end and made the (crappy) brakes work better. I have an associate who still has one AND it goes like a smelly thing!

These tractors will be next. Just as soon as the "BIG" investors figure out a way to get their cut. Sprinkling one or two at Barrett Jackson was just a preliminary test. The key , as with the muscle cars , is to have 10 or 15 in your possession at pre investor prices. I have dealt manuals with a farmer in Sweeden who is into JD and he says they are getting real hard to get and expensive over there. Middle Eastern oil jockeys were responsable for at least a 40% price increase in muscle cars back in the mid '80,s. They had standing orders with "finders" here in the states. Worst thing is it makes them unobtainable to the common enthusiast. I buoght the '66 GTO in 1981 for $1350.00. Put another $5,000.00 into it (NOT counting my labor) I'm sure you all know what a tri-power , 4spd , posi '66 is worth now. Mark my words , when the investors figure out a way to artificially create more collectability to these tractors , they will do the same. And the 2cyl John Deeres will be the first. Thanks to all for your nice comments. Randy.

That will be a sweet car. Those Sprint 6,s with the 4bbl carb were faster in the 1/4 than a 326 V/8 in the same car. Get that "H" going first though.

More than anything, my Grandmother bought it new in 67 and meet my step Grandfather that way. She is still here, but he passed in 86 from cancer.

One of the fastest factory cars I ever was in as a kid. 389 6 pack. Buddy of mine got it stolen in 1974, law found it outside of COLO Springs a few months later, a shell of a body was all that was left. Sad.

I was bitten by the JD bug before I could finish my long term car project (55 chevy belair 2 door). After installing a 500HP 350 and munsi 4 speed, it just sits in the garage and yes I have the front doghouse for it. I just removed it to install the engine and paint the firewall. I start it up about once a year. Hopefully the funds will become available within the next few years to get back to work on it. That is as long as I don't find another JD gem to work on.

I grew up on two cylinder Deeres while wishing I had a fast car. I still have the Deeres but never got the fast car. Instead, I ended up with my grandpa's 59 chevy Biscayne six cylinder without even a radio.

The economy was already spiraling into the tank under W's watch; well before November.

And the nnalert can blame themselves for losing the White house. Ron Paul was a better choice than McCain. But someone in the party promised John it was his turn to run, instead of finding a better candidate.
