I'll be posting a detailed pictorial from start to finish and I'll be sure to share that with everyone here.

Much thanks to Cal Vance who did the restoration work. You don't end up with work like this unless you love what you do - Cal obviously loves his work.

Very very nice. And it looks like it once did no doubt.

The crinkle in the hood sure turned out nice. More 'before' pictures please. I need inspiration for my own projects<g>

Very cool! I am so glad there is this - "cult" - of tractor aficionados dedicated to the preservation of this incredible series of tractors.

First, I want to make it very clear - I did not personally do this restoration. I wanted to, but I realized that chipping away at it for a few weeks every year...it would never get done and might just end up laying around in pieces for a long time.

The work was done by a man in Medicine Hat Alberta by the name of Cal Vance. Cal's contact info and website can be found here:

www.classictractorrestoration.com

I found Cal while looking for someone to do EXACTLY what Cal did - not just a restoration, but a LOVING restoration. Anyone reading this understands that there is a difference between a restoration for cash and restoration that looks like you took the time and did it yourself.

Cal received my 2N in October 2008 and delivered it last week.

I can't say enough about the quality of his work and his attention to detail. This was more than just a restoration - it is a memorial to my Uncle who farmed his quarter section in Saskatchewan with it for a very long time.

Cal used Van Sickle enamel. The colour is Ford Dark Gray 475 74.

I'm in the process of finding a power coat product to match this colour. The seat of the tractor needs something more durable than regular enamel.

Of course, the second thing I did after getting on my new tractor was scratch the seat pan with the buttons on my jeans...DOH! I decided that the seat should be powder coated (and yes, I'm buying a pad for the seat!). I spent the morning looking for the match to the Van Sickle paint used in the restoration. I believe the correct powder coat match is either Tiger Drylac's RAL 7009, 7010 or RAL 7039. The 7039 appears to be the closest in hue, but is just a fraction of a shade lighter. RAL 7009 is the correct shade, but the hue os off by a fraction.

I'll let the samples sit with paint on them for a few days and let you know how they look in sunlight when they are dry.

I know there was a shortage of info on the correct paint type, manufacturer and codes so I hope this along with the powder coat codes helps everyone else looking for this info.
