Priority flow divider power steering fix

Has anyone had success fixing factory power steering on a 400 using the aftermarket priority valve like Steiner sells? If so, do you just plumb in the new valve, cap off the output of the factory priority valve and all is good? Thanks for your replies!

A priority valve is a priority valve, my view is that it should be sized about 4 GPM, I got one from Steiner that was 8 GPM, would get an adjustable one from Northern next time.

You would have to plum it into pressure line with priority flow
going to steering and rest going to aux valves. Then remove flow
divider spool from existing valve and. Cap off. Can you say Mickey
mouse.

So then, what is the solution for repairing the factory power steering system. I seem to get nowhere searching the web or this site, just a bunch of discussion. Is there a repair kit to completely rebuild the hydraulic system? Gaskets O-rings etc ? I use this tractor regularly and don't want to tear it down only to find its not serviceable. What I have read is telling me that the priority valve contains parts that "wear" out of tolerance and the block itself gets wear so that replacement parts can't fix the problem. If I can't repair what I have, I will just continue to use it without PS. Pete23, you come up in this discussion often in my searches. What's the answer?? :?

There are places to rebuild the flow divider block but I don't know of them off hand just what others have given in past posts. The first thing I would do if it was mine is remove the flow divider spool and find a good replacement one. You may be lucky and body of valve not worn. The last one I replaced was over ten years ago and it was still available at CASEIH but I am no longer actively repairing tractors so don't know if available now.. The parts are shown in the online parts manuals for flow divider.

You can always go to a separate engine driven pump like the after market add on power steering use and then pull the flow divider spool out of valve block and plug exit.
