Hi aii
I,m putting power steering on 4 cyl. 2000 with a loader can I run ps off of fel pump, which is front mounted,with a priority valve? If so where and how do I plum it and is pressure,s comparable thanks Len

Len I have a 1960 Ford HD Fork lift that the pervious owner took the pump off the side of the motor and used a two stage pump off the front of the motor---all the fluids are circulated through the hyd. tank for the fork lift---works the best of any power steering on any of my old Ford tractors---don't know any of the specks

Hi Len;

I installed a Jackson Power Steering Unit on my 850. It runs off the FEL pump. It takes about 4 GPM to run the power steering. Do you know the GPM for your pump? My pump was a 4 GPM pump and it handled the power steering fine, but the FEL hydraulics were a little slow. If you have a 10 GPM pump you should have no problem.

As for plumbing, the priority valve was first in line after the pump, then the controller for the FEL. The relief pressure on the priority valve is the same as the controller, 2,500 psi I believe. You probably need to find the specs for your priority valve and controller. I don't know if they have to be the same. Hope this helps.
