Problem 530 Automatic Shut-Off Gas

There has been a minor leak from the sediment bowl. Got a gasket from John Deere and installed it and it weeped down the bowl. Used another new gasket from John Deere along with a new bail and bowl I had on hand. Carefully installed gasket, bail and bowl and hand tightened. It still weeps. My JD Parts Catalog (PC-527) show the gasket between the bail and the bowl. I had hoped to show the tractor at the county fair this week, but I am at a loss what will correct the problem. Thanks, Lee

I had a bowl here that would not seal up, I replaced the entire upper part, I think it was cracked or warped,,but that was not an automatic shut off,,I have removed all my auto shut offs and replaced them with a little 1/4" ball valve, easy on easy off..

take a pair of pliers and tighten the bowl.....put the screen under the gasket. I've fixed many of these contraptions and its an item John Deere should never invented. By the time you tractor shuts down it has enough gas in carburetor to throw all the rods....very poor set up, somebody must have had a brain f****** when they come up with this....like the other post is the best....

Ditto for me. I also hang a Red token on a ring on the valve, so when the fuel is on, I hang it offn' the choke rod. Forgot once too many times and had to change fresh (5hrs. 15-40 Rotella and filter) ! HTH

When you are tightening the bowl give the bowl a little 1/8" twist back and forth right after it contacts the gasket and keep twisting back and forth just a little bit while you complete the tightening. It might help but no guarantees. Sometimes it helps seat the gasket. You do not need to crank the nut with a pliers.
