problem tools; PayPal and eBay

Good morning: I am having problems with eBay and Paypal, they seem to be enemies these days. I can open PayPal and see I have money as cash, also two of my credit cards are linked. BUT, when I am in eBay, trying to buy something, I try to use PayPal to pay the bill, but eBay rejects it! Is there some special method of logging in on each of these systems so they are compatible? I hate checking my every keystroke, taking hours and finding no resolution to a problem. Somebody reading this may have a simple answer to the problem of paying eBay with PayPal. BTW, I realize that eBay and PayPal are not on the same terms with each other as they were years ago. Thanks much!

I buy fairly often on eBay and always use Paypal without any problems. And, I almost never have any money actually on deposit with Paypal..I either use the linked bank account, credit card, or Paypal credit. Not for the 'pay over time' part, but just to consolidate all the purchases into one monthly statement.

Do you get an error message that describes the reason for rejection?

I buy and sell on ebay. I have not had any problems with paying for an item using my PP account. I'm wondering if your information needs updated in your PP
account? Credit cards expire? Bank account number may need verified.

Ebay was going to lock my selling account if I didn't verify my phone number by 1-6-23.

Good morning, kencombs: I get a whole page that pops up; it says (in part) "CANCELED", also says "this order was not successful". It also shows my PayPal login info. I have the suspicion that my logins for eBay and PayPal do not match, or something about the logins is not suitable. I may need a "Philadelphia lawyer" to explain this, if I may use an old phrase!

They don't have to "match." They just have to be linked.

The information you provide is useless as to determine the problem. Certainly there is more information on why the order failed.

They have just gone overboard with security. Every time I have a computer crash I have H on earth buying off ebay. My user name and password
seem to be no good on another computer. The last crash I had to open another email address in order to apply for a new paypal account.

Good afternoon, BarnyardEng: I realized the info I provided was not enough to figure out what was going wrong, that is why I am posting this thread here today!
. Someone may know if the person's eBay login name and their PayPal login name must match, or know some other info that is not obvious to me.

A new computer has no bearing on your problem.

Other than,[i:1382274fe4] maybe.[/i:1382274fe4].........

The first time you log in to ebay or paypal from a computer that you have never used before for ebay or paypal, they [i:1382274fe4]may[/i:1382274fe4] want to send a verification email or text to you with a code.

check your browser, off the wall browsers sometimes mess with the function of sites. As well as pop-up blockers and ad blockers. I use a heavily secured firefox for most stuff and have a no beefed up chrome to run auction sites and some credit card sites. Don't browse on the non beefed up or you'll have thousands of tracker cookies slowing you down. I have a couple malware softwares that remove all the chrome cookies.

Good afternoon:Another comment to my original post, I just tried placing my order with eBay again (within the past hour) and found out that PayPal is not really the problem.
.
I noticed that eBay let me choose my credit card directly, not going through PP. Same thing as before, eBay telling me in about 2 minutes that my payment failed, even though they can connect to my credit card themselves. I see no explanation for this.....

Have you used that CC locally and recently?
Or on any other website recently?
Or have you received a new or replacement card recently?

If yes and it worked, the card info on ebay might be outdated, or you have a transaction limit set up with the card issuer limiting how much per transaction.
You may have an outdated three digit number on the back of card that is outdated on ebays info.

Are you clicking on pay with PayPal or is eBay trying to direct pay from your credit card
I never direct pay and alway select pay with PayPal

My eBay and PayPal user names and passwords are different
You don t want them to be the same, to easily to get both accounts hacked with just one user and password on both accounts

Good evening, Destroked 450: Initially, I was telling eBay I wanted to use PP, then the PP screen let me select which credit cardI wanted to use. I went through this fiasco twelve times, and I thought it was some difference between PP vs. eBay. .
Then (from the eBay screen), I selected credit card, this left PP out of the picture. Same problem, after finishing the transaction, wait about 3 minutes, here comes the refusal, saying the payment failed. Same basic message at the same time on the eBay screen and via a special Email message.
.
IIRC, I quit after three times of this refusal.
.
The credit card(s) involved are mine, in daily use, not expired.
.
This is a lot of tedious work, with no reward.
.
I am still open to suggestions from [b:dd1764ec9a]anyone who has had this problem and solved it.[/b:dd1764ec9a]

Since the current cards in your ebay account are not working......

Go into your ebay account and delete any and all credit/debit cards in your profile. Including your addresses for billing and shipping.

Then enter your current CC/DC and your billing and shipping address(s) for one purchase only.

Do not save it to your ebay account.[/b:30febd4e1e]

And see if that purchase goes thru.

Good evening, Double07: Your instructions seem clear, I want to wait until tomorrow 1/15/23 to try out. Thanks in advance!

I ve never given eBay any payment info
CC, banking info, shipping address are all thru PayPal
eBay has my basic info, eBay user name and eBay password and that s it
Any purchase I select pay with PayPal and it transfers me to PayPal
I log in there and complete the purchase. PayPal transfers the funds and provides eBay with the shipping address
Less chance of getting hacked that way

At one time EBay owned Paypal. That has not been true for a
while.

When I make a purchase, I select PayPal and it goes to PayPal
where it says we recognize you and there I select whether to use
direct pay from a bank or with a credit card.

In my case, I usually select bank, but the card is always a backup
form of payment.

Never had a problem.

Is your browser up to date? I have an older operating system that is no longer updated. I forget the site now but I could add items to the cart and go through the whole checkout stage. After I put in my card info and clicked ok it would decline it. I had to use another browser that is still updated to get things working again. The old browser is faster so I still use it but everyday there is a new site that doesn't load.
