Projects for 2026

What is everyone thinking for tractor projects this year. Last year I split my Farmall M and put in a new clutch plate, pressure plate and bearings. made a huge difference in the way the clutch feels. My H clutch has virtually no resistance when I push down the peddle so I think I will do the same thing with that this year, once it warms up enough to work outdoors again. I guess after 83 years on both tractors I can retire the currently clutch parts without feeling guilty I didn't get my moneys worth. I don't think the H has ever had clutch work. I've owned the tractor for 42 years and they previous owner who I know had quit farming with it about 10 years before I bought it so I doubt he ever did anything to the clutch either. Got to get this kind of stuff done while I'm still young enough to do it.

I just finished splitting my 2394 case ih. The whole power shift is fried. Not sure what happened but a few years ago we split it because of noise. found a roll pin had broke and got in the planetary gears and broke a few pieces off.. By the time I got to pull it apart there was no noise any more. we opted to leave it alone. Now a bigger something broke and the gears are all destroyed in the planetary. That finished off most of the other clutches. This will be my first attempt to do this with out somebody else telling me what to do. Waiting on parts now from a wrecker. I might have to go remove them myself once they put the tractor in the shop. We are doing a cab kit while it is in the shop and fix the air conditioning as well. Next on the list is a cockshutt in need of injector pump repair. Then power shift on 5250. It has 1 and 3 but no 2 and 4 anymore. and then 2470 case with LOTS of oil leaks. That covers all but my 1070 and belarus which I think will stay as they are until the have some major problems.

These all need to be done before garden season.
Got to put a seal in the lift piston on my 51 Case VAC.
Work on my cultivators on my 41 JD H.
Need to rebuild the engine on my 52 8N, but it is not too bad yet.
Just put a new seat switch on my 2004 Kubota L5030 and need to build a grill screen guard for it.
It has a loader on it.
Plus have some big projects on stuff in my shop to do.
Like Buddy Ebsen told Opie, "Never do today what you can put off til tomorrow!"

Nothing I hope. If I have to work on anything, that means something broke. I spent three hours a few weeks ago when we had a little warm spell laying under the feed grinder putting new gears in the unloading auger drive. I've fixed the charging systems in three antiques so far this winter. I'd just as soon not have to mess with anything else for a while.

Cut some firewood for the neighbor lady, put the 3020 back together once the son gets done with the transmission in college, need to put trans back in the son's pickup and rear main seal when he has time and warms up a little, need to go look at a jubilee and try and get running for a guy that called in November. Then help friend get an 80 JD going or at least the pony I think. Finish making a pickup box trailer I started before the son's tranny went south. Then have a trailer load of air2airs and radiators to scrap and a mixed trailer with copper to separate. That will keep me busy for a while.

I posted this in November when JOCCO asked a winter projects question.

Working on my 43 Farmall H now replacing fifth gear, and repairing some small stuff.
Next is the MF 65 and the loose steering.
Install live hydraulic pump back in my Super M.
Waiting on the engine to get back from the machine shop for my cousins Allis G.
Thinking about purchasing a Farmall 504, but have not convinced myself I need one.

The H is done. The Massey has a worn nonreplaceable tie rod end on the drag link, so I am studying on that one. It got pulled back out for snow removal duty. Super M is in the shop now. The G engine rebuild is on going. I bought the 504. Also rewired and did some repairs to a MF 135 for an Uncle. Purchased some nicely used 14.9 x 38 tires for the 504 and my JD A. Hopefully get them installed before summer.

My husband is working on the clutch of our F20 Farmall.

I should try to get a fresh coat of paint on my 860 Ford. Don't have much on the list for house projects this year so maybe this is the year for tractor paint.

We featured Ford at our show in McBride a couple of years ago a guy from Carson City brought one with FWA like that. It was super rough, but we still gave him third place for best feature tractor just because it was so unique.

If I had the money there is so much work here needed in terms of buildings, equipment, and field tile that you would not hear from me for a year. Up next nonetheless is the 4010 is getting a new clutch assembly although someone else will do the work. I don't have a splitting stand and for what it would cost it's not much more to hire it done. First clutch job on it in forever. If I had the money most of the tractors here would receive new rear tires. I've got dad's JD 8430 that should get four new tires but it is going to have to wait.

Picked up 2 tractors a month ago, the case 2590 seems ok, the PTO control cable is stuck and all fluids and filters and I baught my oldest son all the stuff to do the right way for A/C repairs. Going to make that the new planting tractor. Also picked up a versatile 876 needs the inside rims fixed not sure what going on not holding air and rear axle seals while we are the deep and cab kit. Working on corn planter now and this summer finish IH 1466 done top end and repainted needs new wire harness and I have all new gages and lights for it, and last retime IH 706 might also need pump work. And next winter if nothing else comes up need to restore dads MF 135 it getting a total restore.
