Projects Left Dangling

The archives on this site are a treasure of information. I always search them before asking for help. However, I am often frustrated when a thread is left dangling. "Project Interruptus". Was the issue resolved? Did the advice work? It s like reading a mystery novel with the last chapter missing. I know we need to get back to work when the tractor is fixed, but if we post conclusions, it will help all those following the thread and will help you in your future searches. I will always post conclusions to my threads and I encourage other to do the same. Thanks.

Yeah, a guy can spend half an hour
writing up a procedure for something,
find or take photos to add to it, post it
and never hear back from the guy who
asked the question.
I always figure it's a new guy who asked
and he can't find his way back in here or
what you told him left him so despondent
that he just scrapped the whole tractor

I have brought this up before. It happens everywhere. I always try to follow up for future references although I have probably failed too.
I keep trying to give advice even though I normally dont get a response back. I figure they found their answer elsewhere or figured it out. A simple thank you would be nice. I know I am guilty of that too. I often give a response and may never get back to that thread.

Too many people are just too dang busy these days to even think about things like following up with solutions to their problems on on-line forums.

I wouldn't spend as much time on here trying to help people and asking questions if I didn't have the time. Luckily I sit in front of a computer all day long for my job and have quite a bit of idle time on my hands. Here's a link to an old video that shows what I basically do for a living:

I basically take 1-2 calls a day at my job so I don't go into the office. I can do it just as well in my office at home or sitting in my living room or working in my shop or on my tractor.

Can't help myself. Your title triggered this reaction: English grammar, way back there....."dangling participles". All Greek to me back then but I work a lot
of crossword puzzles to keep what mind I have left active and seems I remember more of my grammar classes (and the Nuns with their 12" of wood across
the knuckles) now than back then.

I too like closure on responses. I think if the asker has the need to know the least you can get is a thanks.......not being greedy, just thanks, your idea
worked so you can use it the next time a poster needs it, or you are full of bologna and don't waste my time, nor anyone elses with your ill advised
solutions.......at least you know where you stand......or don't. Grin.
