Proof Meter

One hour on hourmeter represents one clock hour of tractor operation at 1580 revs per minute. Revs below 1580 will accumulate hourmeter hours slower than clock hours. In excess of 1580 registers faster than clock hours

Same here..was looking thru oil recommendation in a 1940..and 1943 and the 1950 manuals and all have differant viscosity and temperature charts.

Making me think and hope someone would answer this and looking in specs in the manual gives a chart for gear choice and reduction and speed for plowing or cultivating and a footnote that 1500 is recommended for power take off tools and 1750 revs when power takeoff tools are not used.

I have spotted a mistake in this manual from 1950 using front point specs rather than sidemount specs in one instance so this is Ford version and not familiar with other brands to figure why they do it but throwing out a guess is have always heard that engines run most efficient at three quarters throttle and and those that remember the old days more know a lot more than I.
My cousins would laugh at my plowing skills but they always had a lot of practice.

Looking at what I wrote needs fixing.

Was saying that the 1580 is about three quarters of 2200 top RPM and still just guessing.
