proofmeter question

Ok, this question may seem a bit silly, but how do you read your proofmeter?

There are 4 numbers in white starting from the left,these are the hours run I assume. The next number is black, is this half hours? Then the last dial (far right) is colored half black and half white, what is the purpose of that?
