i have a 50 8n at one time it had a proof meter. somewhere in its life someone changed out the governor to one without a connection for the proof meter. would like to return this but governors are high and this one works great. any ideas??

I have an electric Hobbs meter on my '51 Farmall Model C. It records elapsed time from when the ign switch is turned on until it is turned off. I believe it will operate on a DC voltage range of 5 to 50 volts. They are used a lot on aircraft. It might work for you if you only want to record engine time and don't need the speed and tach functions.
 
sosmetimes you can get them on ebay for not too much. it may take watching a few to see what they sell for. I bought a good used one from John Smith a while back for a rebuild I am doing.

eed late shaft, rear housing, and drive insert that goes into the end of the late drilled shaft. Sounds like about a half-of-a-governor. :)
 
jecstl........what is so difficult with the concept of replacing yer govenor's cup so it has the proofmeter drive???? $100 (cheap) sheesh...... respectfully, Dell
