PTO cover

I ordered this cap (link) to protect my PTO:

When It came in, I rushed out to put it on and found this:





I had not even thought that it might not fit. I don't even see threads around my PTO. It looks to me like an extension or something was fitted onto it but I don't see any way to remove it, just a couple of grease fittings. the grease zerts come out and then a pin is knocked
out allowing the over run to come off, then the cap
can be screwed into or onto the tractor, but the orc
needs to be removed

You have to rotate it until the pin lines up with holes. Can be hard to see with all the grease that should be there!

Just buy an ORC like this one.
Push the button and off it comes.

Well, I've been reading up on ORCs and I guess I'd
better leave it on for safety's sake and I don't
what to buy a new one right now like that nice
green push button one. I noticed that a fellow
poster here named Dell fabricated one from a
toilet flange ao that the ORC could be left in
place but still protected under cover.

Does anyone have more info on that design. I
would have written Dell directly but I couldn't

FYI, you only need an orc if you are running a brush mower.
As for me, I'd sell the N and buy a newer tractor before I'd put toilet parts on one.

I am going to run a bush hog frequently. Hardly seems worth the trouble of taking it off and putting it back on all the time. As for a newer tractor, I really like the look of an 8N and besides I'm not wealthy enough to just go out and buy a tractor when the notion strikes me.

Protect the PTO- The most important thing it does
is keep people pets and foreign things from getting
tangled in it. I forget sometimes but always
disengage it when not in use. My dad got his boot
lace caught in one in the 50s snapped his leg while
putting bales on a elevator there was other men
helping and got it shut down.
