PTO Engaging Problem

I was going to use the PTO on my 860 but it couldn't engage. I shut off the tractor and engaged the PTO and then started the tractor. The PTO worked fine. What is my problem and how do I fix it?

was it grinding trying to engage?

try this.. engage it.. start up... mash clutch to floor. pto stop?

if not.. clutch may be stuck.. or used up out of adjustment so you can't declutch pto.

yer freeplay set correctly? set a har under and try her..

I second soundguy's advice, I had the same problem. All I did was tighten up the clutch adjustment and that fixed it. Of course I had 4 inches of freeplay, so mine was way out of spec.
