PTO install trick??

On my 42 H I had to remove the pto to replace some bearings in the rear end. All the bearing and seals are done and now I'm having a heck of a time getting the pto back in. It's the older style pto and I can't seem to get the shaft lined up to hole it fits into. Is there some trick to this or do I just continue fiddling with it?? Thanks.

A couple long bolts in the mount holes and a pipe on
the shaft to cantilever the front of the shaft up to line
up. Also PTO engaged so you can turn it to line up the
splines.

slip a length of pipe over the tail end of the PTO shaft.
this will help balance the PTO shaft and facilitate stabbing it in.

Good Luck!

Thanks, that did the trick!
