PTO Oil Seal

The copypasta for the pto seal replacement references a "white side" and an "open side".

I took a picture of each side. Which is white? Open? Which side towards the oil (front of tractor)?

The spring Always goes toward the oil.

I think the side with the lip/steel spring (I think it's called a garter spring) goes toward the oil, in any situation. Hopefully someone will verify that before you have to install it. That's what I read somewhere.
