PTO Question

I am new to the Ferguson site. I recently inherited a TO20 in pretty good shape. I have 2 8N's and I am very familiar with them. My question is will a PTO shaft out of a 1950 8N fit a TO20? I have one that has a good collar on it so it should not leak. Just trying to save a little money. They look almost identical. Thanks for any info.

I would love to say yes but, I just checked the part numbers on this site and generally the #'s from Fergy parts to Ford parts are the same. Your PTO shaft is a diff. # between the '20 and the 8N.
I, like you, currently have a single TO-20, three 8N's and a 2N. The Fergy runs with no glitches.

The Ferguson Parts manual crosses the TO- series pto shafts with the Ford 2N and 9N but not the 8N. If you can find a cross between the 2N/9N and the 8N then it will work.
The 2N and 9N use the same Ferguson System as the TO-series. The 8N is a little different but I think ol"Harry was po"d about the 8N because of the end of the handshake agreement with Henry Ford that he wouldn"t list it in his parts manuals.

Looking at the parts listing on this site I find the following in the Ferguson section:

And then in the 8N section:

Looks like the same Part number so I would expect your 8N shaft would fit your TO20.

Yep! I looked and my blind eyes decieved me.
So the shafts will interchange from the 20 to the 8N.
I guess the PTO shaft was not patented like the Hyd system was upon the split up. Thusly reduce cost and use the same parts.
