PTO SEAL

I have got my shaft out of the tractor and have the houseing off, my question is are there seals that come made all together with a felt dust sheild because the one i received from this site does not have the felt made with it. Plus I have looked the houseing over for the snap ring and have not found one on it,the pto shaft is a new 1 3/8 I ordered from this site last year. I found that the small snap ring on the shaft had broken and ruined the seal. is it possible that the new ones don't have the large snap ring in the houseing?

If the Circlip (snap-ring) has broken, that usually means that there is a problem with the PTO shaft on the implement and it is finding it hard to "telescope" the two parts of the PTO shaft. You should check both halves and clean them up and make sure that they will slide in and out of the opposite part easily, if they don't you will have the problem again. When they don't slide easily the Snap Rings have to take all the load and often they are just not strong enough, so they will break. The new ones DO have the snap rings, look in the bottom of the Diff housing, you may find the snap-ring broken in there...John
