PTO Shaft

What size is the pto shaft on a 1951 8-n.i picked up a bush hog at an auction. the seller had it on a small john deere. the shaft receiver was to big for my shaft so i picked up a sleeve at tractor supply. it did not stand up to the stress test. the receiver on the bush hog telescopes to the point of being 2 pieces. is it possible to get an end that will fit on my 8-n that would slide onto the shaft, that telescopes, of the bush hog.

You will want an over-ride clutch with using a brush mower. If not the spinning blade will force your tractor forward and you will run yourself into a fence, ditch, pond, or whatever....

Oh, Just a guess but I"d say more then likely you"ll need the PTO Override Clutch - Override Coupler For converting 1 1 8" Male To 1 3 8"

If you are saying that the shaft on the mower is too short, you may have to replace it. Using an ORC which comes in various spline sizes may fix your problem and you need the ORC anyway.

thanks i will look for the overide and ill have to shorten the telescopic shaft on the mower

and it did run me into the fence

Shortening is the easy way, but Id cut the same amount off of each piece.

thanks, they are proud of them arent they. i was looking under ford,newholland why i couldnt find them

hey Danny......they are "cheap" when compared to running into the side of yer wifes car (don't ask) .......Dell, the ORC Safety Preacher
