PTO spinning slow.

John deere 1520 Was running tiller over the garden and the PTO started running slower and slower now will hardly turn. Took off tiller to see if there was something binding with the tiller. PTO still turns slow. No clunking no smell no new noises. How to trouble shoot? It is a daul stage cluth. Engages and disegages fine. Everything else seems to work fine.

If it has the dual stage clutch aka continuous running pto then the only thing that would allow pto speed to slow down is a slipping pto clutch disk

Yep. Popped off the inspection cap. Smells like burnning clutch. Other things are starting to go now. Thanks.

I would charge about $700 plus parts here...

If the clutch has not been serviced. The throw out bearing can bind on the splines.
