In my opinion, it is probably a good piece of equipment when used behind a smaller garden type tractor, but I think it would be too small to be used with an N. I believe for the heavier type mowing I do with my Jubilee I believe a 60" brush hog would be better, but it all depends what you plan on cutting and how long you want to cut with one. 44" cut is awful small to use with an N.

I think that is too small for any seious cutting. Those DRs are made to be pulled by something like a small 4 wheeler, for use on smaller yard cutting.

yes I have a good lawn tractor that I agree may be the way to use this ,havent bought it yet ,but the hog is waiting to get dirty,I will have to think about the pull behind ,as it is a good chunk of change
thanks Glen

I think it would be really stupid to run your tractor and the DR pull behind brush cutter with the 17 hp motor. With gas prices over $3.00 a gallon and a new brush hog with one hour on it setting in the fence row.Use your N like a tractor, not a lawnmower or 4 wheeler

WELL DEN FIRST OFF I AM NOT STUPID AND THIS N IS A TOOL AND IF IT CAN BE USED OTHER WAYS THEN WHY NOT,I ASK FOR HELP THAT IS ALL NO OTHER REPLY NEEDED

G BRAGG;
Arguments aside, I think it is your choice, what you do with your "N". If you feel the $$$$s are such that you want the DR, then I say, Go for it!!!
As for replying to statements on the net, that make your mind go BOING!!, Don't let stuff like that boil your blood!. Just egnore it and go on with your ????s. Don't let it ruin your day. 8)

I do have a suggestion for you. If you don't buy the DR hog, you can take the $$$$ you would have spent on IT, and buy another "N" to play with. :)

Rig up some sort of offset hitch and use both mowers. Get done quicker. They actually make hitches something like you would be looking for that are intended to mow ditches. Keep the tractor up on the level and let the mower reach down the incline. Some one posted one somewhere here on YT quite a while ago. Seems like it was behind an IH superC or something similar.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

thanks for the words of wisdom,Iam not realey mad at any one,and you are right the DR is in the neighborhood of $2500.00 and around here that would get me another N and bucks for a trailer and of corse when my bride reads this post well I know I will have to buy her something HA HA.

My only question is why. You would burn more gas doing that and also spend a good bit of money on it. A brush hog on your tractor should work better then any thing like that and you know its new so it will brake down on you in less then a year maybe 2 if your lucky

I believe the DR was designed in mind for someone who has a 4 wheeler and wants to do some brush hogging on a hunting property or such.

We really need to know what you want to do with the 44" DR before we can comment.
You may have a use that none of us has thought of & it might be the PERFICT answer.
If you want to cut brush, the brush hog will do a much better job and be easier to control. If you want to mow grass with it, I would rather spend the money on a Woods 6' finish mower then the DR brush mower.
For me, I have a 2N & the only way I would get a DR pull behind was if someone gave it to me free. They are GREAT toy... tools but I don't need one. I have a bush hog & finish mower & they do what *I* need done.

Glen ,No! I never said that you was stupid,Maybe I just used the wrong words meaning that would NOT be at all Practical. But you can spend however much you want to.You asked for opinions,That was just mine.

Youngest son and I custom mowed big yards for 4 years and had a pull behind the would fit on either garden tractor. It was modified with 4 caster wheels on it and moved with the tractor. Used it a while first with the angled tounge that let it run off to the side. Problem with that set up is that it does not do corners very well as you never know exactly where it is behind you unless you are looking back all the time. Then you wind up running into something. If you want to mow a lot quickly I think and N with a belly mower and 2 pull behinds would get the job done in less than half the time. Your call and your money though. Another thing to think about is that you can't pick it up and carry it on the 3 point like your brush hog unless you want to modify it with a 3 point hitch.
