pulling tracks

How can a guy keep a pulling track from being progressive? I have seen many tracks act that way before. At our club pull it seems like the track always improves in the larger numbered classes. It appears that the tractors hooking later in the class have the best advantage. I am just currious if anyone has come up with a way to stop this from happening. Thanks

Dont know a fix, but have seen many times also just the opposite. Better to be the first three than the last three or so! Either way Im usually on the worst end of the stick!

Many reverse the Order every time..
Heavy first one week, Light first the next..

Not letting the track dry out is usually the key..

That and keeping a roller busy, rolling it also..

The sled pan packs the dirt in the early classes and paves the way for the later classes. In the summer time the track needs to be watered in between classes to keep it even. Thats normally how it works on the clay tracks up here. No matter how you split it the track changes some through out the pull.

A good track will always get better as the pull goes on. No way to stop it, just the way it works. As for watering a track between classes. You should never have to do anymore than mist a track during a pull, most often directly off the grader box tractor via a small 12v pump and tank. If you are at a pull where they are having to water a track down the whole pull, then they do not know how to build a track and it will never be any good the whole night long.
