Class I'm gonna run in has no rules about rpm limit. Have a almost completely built jd 404 engine and putting a p7100 on it with an adapter plate I made myself. I was looking at pumps but then I had a crazy idea come across my head. Has anyone ever ripped the whole governor off of an injection pump and built a box on the back and a lever assembly to run the rack? So essentially you have an open rpm injection pump lol or should I just put my thoughts to rest and get a pump. I do understand that making it idle would be extremely hard and you would be the one controlling fueling but idk just asking haha
I have read about doing that. This guy thought he would have better control of his rpms that way. I have messed with a Detroit 2 stroke . I left the governor hooked up. Just put a link in place of the spring. That way it would idle. Worked good, but pumped all the oil out of the pan at high rpm. And ruined the crank. So now I have extra oil in crankcase. And have littler holes in rocker arm bolts. Lol.
Atleast I'm not the only one who thought of it lol

Yes, it could be done. A better way is to modify the governor to keep the low idle speed and eliminate the top speed limit if that's what you want. The P7100 had three governor choices, electronic, mechanical RQV and RSV. The electronic version has changes to the pump that it won't accept the RQV or RSV governor assemblies.
I got a few p7100's off of 12 valve engines I might just try it and see if it works haha
