Pump seal fitting

Yep this is about the hydraulic pump again! I've purchased rear (distributor side versus radiator side) hydraulic pump seals for my Thompson pump from 2 different companies and both are too small. I did replace this seal with one from a kit last year so I know it exists. I researched the part through AV Spare etc and it appears that the OEM number is updated and that number now also ties to a pesco pump rear seal which is smaller. I verified this issue with a tech from Steiner. He sees the issue and they have the correct size seal in a seal kit but can't provide it individually. I'll spare further details. Here's my question. The dimensions on the seal are OS 0875 X 1828 X 250 SI. It was made by MFP Seals. I've been to their web site and can't figure out what and how to order. It doesn't appear to be a retail site. I'd appreciate help if anyone knows where and how to purchase this seal. I'm unfamiliar with the process. Thanks! Paul

MFP Seals is a manufacturer. They don't sell to the general public.

Your local NAPA probably has the right seal in stock, if not, they can order it in for you.

Any bearing house can get you the right seal too.

In either case bring them your old seal and they can match it up. It's nothing special.

Im wondering why the coupling is rubbing on the seal. Does that seal fit in an open hole or does it bottom out on a step? The irregular wear marks makes it look like it was crooked/distorted. I think it would be better if you took the pump apart and drove the seal in with a piece of heavy, flat steel.

Fritz I think that might have been why the seal failed. I remember when installing not knowing how far I should drive it in. I figured I erred on the side of caution and drive it to the point where I thought it was flush. I see now I should carefully strive it in until it won't go in any further. Thanks!

Wore out. Thank you for the reply. I visited
my local auto parts store who told me the
seal was unavailable. Napa didn't have it
either but they did give me the part number
8842 which matches the number in your link.
Hopefully I'll have it by Saturday at
reasonable price including shipping. Thanks.

visited my local auto parts store and 2
others. Napa about 40 minutes away did say
they could order it but not have it shipped
to my house. Went online and after searching
through about a dozen sites I found it at a
reasonable price delivered in 3 days at a
very reasonable delivery cost. Thanks for the
