Push button ignition

my 88 had the push button switch go out so ordered a new one. Put it on and I noticed on the back it looks like it’s got a peace of insulation that looks like cardboard. I thought it was supposed to be there but after putting it on it worries me it shouldn’t. What do you guys think?

It is indeed Insulating Paper/Composite, and it is there to prevent the Cables Ends from Arcing against each other. All good.
