Quality Voltage Regulator

After days of troubleshooting I still cannot figure out why my system is pulling 13 amps, but I know I ordered a 6V VR for a front mount and the generator was replaced at some point with a later 20 amp 2 brush generator. So, the new regulator shuts down at 13 volts and now I am having to hit the side of the VR to get it to start changing again.

I cannot find through the search feature a name and part number for quality VRs for later model 8Ns with side mount distributors and a 2 brush generator. Does anyone have this?

It won't solve my mystery as to what is drawing so many amps, but at least it will reduce the frustration of having to beat the side of the VR all the time while troubleshooting.

Echlin VR950, there not cheap but they work.

Dan, regarding side mount, I suffered with brand new crappy VR that charged constantly at high amperage. I replaced it with Standard Ignition 6 Volt Voltage Regulator | STD VR211 | - purchased from O'Reilly's in 2021 for $51 bucks. It continues to work fine. However, that was for my Ford 860. I believe the same VR is used on the hundred series and the 8N side mounts.

The 8N uses an A circuit regulator and the NAA and 100 series uses a B circuit regulator.
