Question about Farmhand Equipment

Has anyone out there ever heard of Farmhand Equipment company and are they still around. Back in the late sixties we did custom hay baling in the Aurora,Ill area. We were from Sandwich ,Ill and traveled the area doing custom work. We had a Farmhand bale accumulator and loader. It is the only one I have ever seen up to this day. It worked really well in Illinois where the land was flat. We moved to Wisconson on a dairy farm and it did not work in the hills. We bought that equipment in Sheridan,Ill at the John Deere dealership owned by Jerry Johnson at that time. Just curiuos to know if anyone else has any knowledge of this equipment.

Farmhand was located in Hopkins, MN. They built some very good loaders that could reach quite high. They were especially good for stacking loose hay and loose hay was very popular in ND in the 1940s and 50s in the area where I grew up. This was before the small square balers became the normal way to handle hay.

There is a local fellow who has a John Deere "A" tractor with one of these high reaching Farmhand loaders mounted on it and he takes it to various area shows.

The building thry built stuff in was used for warehouse after they sold to Agco; it had a pretty bad fire in it, so even the building they used is no longer.

Farmhand loaders...the poor man's bucket truck...i trimmed many a tree in the bucket of one.

Farmhand even made silage wagons. They had a large auger that ran the lenght of the wagon that moved silage to the front cross conveyor to unload. We had three of them. They worked good for many years.A simple design.

I bought a Farmall H two years ago with a Farmhand stacker on it. It is in good shape, repainted IH red. I took it off cause it was too clumsy to work trees with it on. Now for sale.

Hey thanks for the update! The bale accumulator and matching loader was very basic but worked well. Have you ever seen one?

We actually had it on a John Deere B for a while, not a good fit. Later put it on our Joh Deere 720 diesel, that was a much better fit.
