Question for Majorman et al.... calormeters....

Curious if you are familiar with calormeters? Did they work well, was it a common accessory & are there still a lot out there? Hard to tell from this side of the puddle. The MotoMeter takes up most of my searches. There's nothing wrong with those, just isn't the easiest to see where the mercury is at, all the way back in the cab. The pointer in the calormeter looks like it would be easier to see.

Not had a lot to do with them Mike, they were in common use in the late 1940's and 50's on Fordson E27N's, Nuffield and David Brown but these ones were positioned on the bonnet rather than near the driver. They are no longer available as far as I know. By the time I was working on the tractors, they were fitted with the later thin tubed ones.

The type I mean is like the one on this old E27N.
