Soundguy, We chatted this morning about a 53 jubilee hydralics staying up. I was wondering if you knew if the tranny case, rear axle and hydralics were a common reservior. therefore use 134d thru out the system .A dealer near me is saying to use 80=90 wt gear in the hydro but it does not sound right to me would intermix. thanks for you help..Gary

I'm not sound but if I remember right its 3 different places for the oil. Just checked the manual and yes 3 different places for the oil tranny and rear end same type of oil hyds different. I could give you the numbers but there the old numbers so that may not help you

The transmission, hydraulic, and rear end are all separate compartments. The hydraulic lines pass through the transmisson case and are sealed with O rings. There should not be any mixing of gear(80/90)oil or hydraulic oil unless there is a breech of one of the oil ring seals.

As the others said, there are 3 seperate sumps.. IE.. use gear oil in the diffy, hyd oil in the hyds.. and gear oil in the tranny.

OR you can use UTF in any or all of them.

Whoever told you to use gear oil inthe hyds needs to have his head examined. Next time you are in, you might show him a copy of the manual that shows the seperate sumps.

Also.. I sure wouldn't let this lunatic work on my equipment..as he obviously knows -0- about the tractor in question.

They are separate compartments, but because of leakage of these old machines through old seals, my understanding is that Ford / New Holland started recommending the use of 134 in all 3 compartments years ago with the expectation that they would mix.
