Questions about 1928 Regular

I recently bought a 1928 Regular and have a few questions about it.

Runs well and starts easily. I know the mag is a later model and is retarded w/o the advance mechanism connected up to the steering which is fine for me. Might want to later make it original though.

After it warms up, some anti freeze does leak out of the top filer. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Also, there are 2 levers at the steering wheel. I know one is for the spark advance and is not hooked up. The other seems to go to the intake manifold but does not make the tractor run any different. I always have there level in the down position, but moving it up after running does not do much. Possibly this is for running on kerosine? I only run gas.

I also know the steering is from a later model but the serial number on the frame is correct for a 28.

Thanks for all the help. We also have 2 A's (46, 47) and an H (41).

Regards,
Rob

I have a 28 also.Water coming out of the top radiator tank is probally normal, either the overflow tube is closed off or stopped up.If running hot make sure your fan belt is tight. If youir leaver is not hooked up you probally have the updated governor, your motor should smooth out if you adjust the mag control

I dd not see how to add pictures directly before.

yes one lever is for timming adjustment for starting, The other is for adiusting the governor top
speed. If your mag has been changed to maybe a f-20 model, fhe governor very well could have been
changed or up dated as well.

Thanks, there is a speed adjustment level on the right hand side of the gas tank. I presume this was added later as well, but it's a nice lever to have there.

Its got a field changeover throttle setup, hence the cast arm coming back off the oil filler plate. This renders bother levers by the steering wheel useless as one was for the magneto advance and the other was for the original 'non variable speed' gov. Originally that lever would force the carb butterfly closed against the gov spring in order to not run at full rpm all the time

Your rearend is a narrow tread also
