1)What would the acceptable wear limits for piston skirts be?
2)At what wear tolerance would you consider knurling the piston skirt?
3) Am I correct in that while measuring piston skirt clearance you do so in 3 places and use a feeler gage?
4) Is there any skirt thickness measurements?

Thanks in advance

I don't know the answers to your questions, but then, with the price of complete rebuild kits as low as they are, I don't understand why anyone would want to worry about things like that.

If you have an N tractor and have it apart, it is an inexpensive thing to get all new parts, pistons, sleves, valves, guides, springs the whole 9 yards.

Here take a look at the price of complete engine rebuild kits.

I always did like going all the way though...

1)What would the acceptable wear limits for piston skirts be?

>Per Fo4 .003 Aluminum, .004 Steel, 5#-10# pull on a 1/2" feeler gage.

2)At what wear tolerance would you consider knurling the piston skirt?

Never - just replace the pistons and sleeves - waste of money and time. JMHO but i've been there and done that on other motors.

3) Am I correct in that while measuring piston skirt clearance you do so in 3 places and use a feeler gage?

Yes.

4) Is there any skirt thickness measurements?

Not that I know.
