what are you using it for? What is on the tractor now? Keep in mind that the rims are not interchangeable between r1 and r4 tires.

SO in effect, if you had a tractor that currently has r1 tires on it, then, you have to use r1 tires on those rims.
 
Depending on your rims width you can get some new 8.3x24 delivered for 125 ea they are 6ply and last a long long time with reasonable care not setting in hot sun ect.
 
Rob- is that a Kubota Thing, having to change rims? As far as I know, R1 and R4 still will have the same diameter, as long as the rim diameter is the same. The only thing I know for certain is that R1's give better traction in muddy field conditions.
 
I had a Kubota L3300 GST that had the R4's on it. They seemed to have some advantage over the R1 when backing up. Definately better flotation. As far as wear, I can't answer that one. Mine were 14.9x24's rear and 10.00x16.5 on the front.
