Least expensive is best. The construction tread will wear longer on pavement and give more slippage in mud. But if you will be sending it off into the future it should look like what it is. Jimhave a john deere backhoe i seldom use. anyone have an opinion on wether replacing the rear tires with ag tread or stay with the r4 tread. looking for good used 16.9-28s.

For the weight of a backhoe and durability r-4’s. Traction r-1’s,but r-2’s are much betterLeast expensive is best. The construction tread will wear longer on pavement and give more slippage in mud. But if you will be sending it off into the future it should look like what it is. Jim

Not sure which will give the smoother ride, but I do know Ag tires will tear up your yard worst the the R4's. The best thing you can do to smooth out the ride is fill the rear tires with fluid!Andy,
I wish my Kubota came with Ag tires.
I may be wrong, I think Ag tires give a smoother ride.
My B2650 has Ag tires on it. Surprisingly, the rear tires do very little damage to the lawn. The fronts can cause some, but having the toe in set correctly will eliminate most of that. Not sure which will give the smoother ride, but I do know Ag tires will tear up your yard worst the the R4's. @timcasbolt, apples and oranges in my opinion. The amount of weight you’re applying to those tires on a lawn tractor in minimal. There is no way to compare the ride of 5000 pounds on an axle compared to a couple hundred.I have two John Deere 110's. One with ag tires and one with turf tires. The ag tires ride like a corduroy road.
True but a backhoe machine needs more rear weight like any of us need another hole in the head...Not sure which will give the smoother ride, but I do know Ag tires will tear up your yard worst the the R4's. The best thing you can do to smooth out the ride is fill the rear tires with fluid!
What size is your backhoe? Full size or one of the smaller 110 machines? A full size backhoe has a lot of weight on the rear. I'd go with the R4 for the higher ply ratings.have a john deere backhoe i seldom use. anyone have an opinion on wether replacing the rear tires with ag tread or stay with the r4 tread. looking for good used 16.9-28s.
