rack and pinion

what kind of manual rack do you use on a farmall 460 homemade wide front with the rack on the rear of axle.

You can use one out of a mustang 2 or pinto. There are several on ebay and resonably priced.

ok we have one for a mustang 2 that we had on a moline mounted on the front of axle. we used the same axle and turned it around so that the rack would be on the rear of axle. when we hoooked up steering the wheels turn backwards.

Turn it upside down that will make it work the other way

with the rack behind the axle,if the steering shaft is on the right(passenger side)use the mustang. With the rack on the left use an 81 escort.

Put a steering helm pump out of a boat on it and a 2 way steering cylinder off a towmotor. No steering shafts to mess with, just two small hydraulic lines and it steers like power steering.

we can mke it work by turning it round a mounting the steering on the right side and it will work like it is suposed to. thnaks for the replys and happy new years everyone

we moved the steering to the right side and it lined up and now steers right.
