Rad fluid

Okay, so I was plowing a plot with my tractor yesterday and I noticed that Rad fluid was spitting from the rad cap, is this normal or do you think my rad cap is pooched and I need a new one?

Better check your overflow tube. Bees/wasps have probably plugged it or it has rusted shut.

You may have it too full . These tractors only require the fluid covering the coil only & not topped off . Check thermastat & over flow as mentioned . Is the radiator plugged in front . A good high pressure hosing would help clear the coils . Njoy plowing . God bless, Ken

Where do I find the overflow tube at? It looks like fresh neon green fluid so the person I bought it from probably over filled it. It sprayed all over the front of the nicely painted tractor!!

Take the rad. cap off and look on the side/back of the filler tube. There should be a metal tube comming out the side of the neck, which is supposed to run down the rt. side of the radiator, as you are looking at it from the seat. If that tube is not there that is where all your coolant is coming from, and as stated before, when the collant just covers the tubes and fins inside the rad., that is when ya stop filling. It is prob. overfilled and has no room for expantion.

If you look in the area where the cap sits there should be a small hole leading to a tube on the outside of the radiator. That tube normally leads to the lower right side of the radiator.

Yup. theres my problem. there is no tube there. Just a hole. So I need to run a tube from that hole on the back of the rad cap to where? Is there a plug in the rad it should go into, or does it just vent and leak out the bottom?

The most common reason for an N to “over heat” is over filling the radiator. Only add enough fluid to cover the core. (check out tip # 23, below as well as tips 25 & 35) It is not actually over heating; it is just spewing out the excess water.

If the radiator is not overfilled, check for low coolant, a loose fan belt, debris in the radiator fins or a stuck thermostat. A bad water pump will usually squeak or leak.
