radiator repair

Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to re-attach the fill spout to a radiator from a Farmall C. Weld or Braze? Thanks.

Any radiator shop should be able to fix it, I brazed my overflow back on but, that was a pretty small fix compared to what you are talking about.

Solder Assuming it isn't a cast iron tank.

Best advise is take it to a radiator repair shop.

I don't have a 'C'.. but if it is cast material.. I'd silver solder it.. or braze it.. either will hold just fine.. and not have the cracking danger that welding will.

If it's less than 1/2" thick I'd think a plumbers propane or mapp torch set will get you on the silver solder.. and a mapp or regular torch setup on the brass rod...

While I like to do most things myself, This is one I recomend you take to a pro shop. There is a little more to it than a simple solder joint.

If you know how to solder well it would not be all that hard if you have all the right tools and can get things clean enough. Biggest problem is getting the area hot enough with out getting other areas to hot and melted the solder off. My self I would take it to a shop that does that type of work and be done with it, plus they can also check it for leaks and weak spots

as a radiator repairman for 10 years, solder it on, thats if it copper, if not go to radiator shop. dont let them hottank and clean it, it takes former stop leak etc out and it will leak everywhere. sometimes the lime in water stops small leaks so if not running hot just repair it.(if you do it yourself the most important thing is to tin it good then solder.)

If you have done any soldering it is very simple. Make sure it's cleaned goo with a steel brush or whatever. THen flux it and start soldering. I resoldered the whole top tank on my tractor radiator and it was pretty simple.
