I have a YM2000 and the radiator sprung a leak at the top seam. Can it be repaired by soldering or should it be brazed? is there a special antifreeze to use?

i have fixed seam leaks with solder and a propane torch-use a good plumbing flux to clean the brass in the repair area so the solder will flow and stick well.

regular anitfreeze will work fine. brazing requires more heat, therefore it would melt the solder out in trying to use it. Cleanliness is the biggest key to a good solder job.

I'd take it to a rad shop, which will do it if possible and pressure-test. And if called for offer alternate solutions which will be cheaper than a new one if available, and more secure then a salvage one. If it leaks in one place it's unlikely the rest of it is fine.

I Agree Alan. A Radiator repair shop would be the best way to go. It's just not worth it. Then keep the Antifreeze clean and it should last the Life of the Tractor. I know I had to flush and change my Radiator 2 or 3 of times the first Yr. I owned it. It's been over 5yrs. and haven't had any problems and it stays clean <E></E>
