Radiator report

OK, the radiator shop gave me the bad news on my 4000 row crop's radiator. It needs a new core, and that would cost $325. Radiator guy recommended I go with a new one. At this point I think I'll go with YT's "restoration" radiator. I think the radiator from American Cooling Solutions is just as good and 70 bucks cheaper, but everyone here has nothing but good things to say about the YT radiator. And YT deserves the business.

Looking forward to your report on the fit. My concern is being able to fit the shroud. Always seems to be the biggest complaint among repro radiators

It might be worth checking with Superior
Radiator in MI. They made me a radiator
for my hot rod, and I was very happy with
the quality and price.

I have only had trouble with aftermarket radiators in a 4600 and 4000SU. Recently did a 6600 with a recore. It cost more, but the radiator fit right.

I just ordered a water pump and a bunch of other stuff for my 2606 from here at YT. Prices were comparable or better. Located the parts online and then called them Monday morning (went from caller #11 to a liver person in 35 min) to make sure everything was in stock and not back ordered. The water pump was a drop ship but he said they showed it as stock. Because of the people waiting to talk, I told him I'd go ahead and do it online.

Did you see the work around I posted on the master exam on that other topic?

I placed my order yesterday. So far no shipping notice, but I'm in no big rush. I took my hood over to my BIL to straighten out and paint; I don't expect him to be done with it for at least two weeks. Hopefully we don't get too much snow before then.

No, I didn't. I usually stay on "classic" and that thread had scrolled down to page five. I found your post and replied to it; thanks for your suggestion.

Bern and jsp: You may have missed my earlier post, where I asked for feedback on the various aftermarket radiators. Several folks gave me good reviews for the "restoration" radiator sold by YT. Without that input, I would have gone the recore route.

OK. I'm in Modern. Got a confirmation email from YT Monday after placing the order. On Tuesday got an email from "Samantha" that the USPS label with tracking number has been created. No direct link to USPS for the number so I didn't look it up. So watch for Samantha.

I posted more ideas just a little bit ago.

OK, so I got a note from Samantha, saying, "A shipping label was processed for you on 02/25/2021 via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail, Medium Flat Rate Box to the following address:"

Hmm. That radiator isn't going to fit in a Flat Rate box. Nor will many of the other items. So Samantha is blowing smoke. I don't believe my stuff is ready to ship.

Thanks, I responded to your other post.

Just got the first part of my YT order, a grill and decals. It turns out they were drop-shipped from Riley Tractor Parts in Wauseon, OH.

Got all my order in 4 boxes today. 2 by priority and 2 by ups. The box with the spark plug wiring set said Steiner on the side with a remote shipping order. The IH water pump and exhaust pipe for the ford says it came from Main Warehouse with a RTP picking sheet and I can't tell where it came from as it uses YT's Port Townsend return address. The two boxes from YT were by priority.

For a while I was wondering if Samantha stood me up and left me for another guy but apparently all is well. Since I was ordering I went through the generic stuff and they had a 3000 # oil filled psi gauge for 12.95 which I thought was a good price.

Same with my RTP shipment. I was able to determine who and where RTP is by running the UPS tracking number. It said it was shipped from Defiance, OH. A google search on "RTP tractor parts OH" led me to Riley.

It's interesting how these different suppliers (YT, RTP and Steiner) work together.

Never heard of Riley. It will be interesting to see how the marriage of YT and All States' tractorpartsasap works together. When I was looking for pistons for the C221 that aren't make right now, them and Jen sales, Abilene Machine, etc. were using Reliance and having them drop shipped. Reliance takes the 6 numbers of an IH part number without the R at the end and then puts a 7 at the front of it. Knew automatically it was coming from Reliance plus the generic Reliance photo of a piston and sleeve set is a giveaway. Reliance uses a dealer network so the individual buyer can't order direct from them.
