I am ready to purchase a radiator for a Farmall H. Any comments or input on quality and fitment out there on the radiators from ASAP? My H has shutters too but should not make a difference. I tried to do some business locally and the aftermarket radiator I purchased there could not be used due to poor fitment, so I returned it and now on the search. I have purchased many parts from YT with good results.
I just do not want to have something shipped across the country and be disappointed.
Thanks for your help. Dennis

I purchased a radiator for Massey Ferguson 1100 a few years ago. It fit fine. Arrived in good condition. No complaints. Radiator was made in Turkey if I recall correctly.

Hi 'used red', I didn't think they were in Port Townsend anymore after joining up with ASAP. Could be wrong. Thanks
Hello Dennis! I don’t really know either, maybe someone will chime in with a definite answer. The real question would be where does the radiator actually ship from? By the YT map best I can figure is the drive for you is probably a couple hours anyway. The cost of gas it doesn’t take much to make paying the shipping to be the more economical choice.

The shipping cost isn't a big deal. Shipping is free except they add a small amount because of what it is. Just the hassle and bs if it doesn't work out is all. I had visited their facility in Port Townsend a few years ago. Was clean, organized and friendly folks. Thanks for taking an interest.

If at all possible, I strongly recommend getting your original radiator re-cored by a local radiator shop. It will probably cost more than a new aftermarket radiator, but the results will be better. In general, new radiators from YT and other suppliers are inferior to OEM originals in both construction and fit. When my OEM Ford radiator failed, I purchased the most expensive replacement that YT offered at that time. I returned it because it didn't fit and also appeared to have been damaged and returned. I should note that this radiator wasn't actually shipped from YT but was actually drop-shipped from Dennis Carpenter (a Ford restoration parts supplier) in North Carolina. I returned the aftermarket radiator and YT refunded me purchase price. I then took my original radiator to a radiator shop and had it re-cored. My re-cored OEM radiator is definitely mo betta than the new one from Carpenter/YT.

Thank you Mark for the reply. I went through a similar situation with my SMTA a few years ago. Purchased aftermarket, didn't work out then re-cored the original. This time is different as I no longer have the original. I screwed up big time and let it get away to the shops scrap pile. Guess I'll need another 'H' as a parts tractor, lol. Sooner or later it will get worked out. This tractor has no field to plow but I would like to get-er done.
Thanks Dennis

Have you posted in the classified section for a good H radiator? I'm sure someone has one they would part with.

A recore by a competent shop would always be my first choice - I had such a shop as a computer customer. The problem is, not everyone has such a place nearby.

If it is a Clancy brand leave it there. Northern radiator 219523.
Sid, The Northern is the one I purchased from the local shop. The vertical side frames were out of spec to the point I could not attach the shutters. They were going to try fixing it but after three weeks of it just laying there I lost my patience and told them to keep it. Probably burned a bridge there.

Sorry to hear that Dennis. I have had good luck with Northern. I have not purchased one for an H. I'm sure they don't make all of those so who knows where they come from. I agree recore is the way to go if the rest of it is good, but few repair shops for radiators any more. We here just lost our radiator repair shop couple months ago. Died suddenly, no warning. Was a good guy that would fix if possible, not just replace.

I had heard good things about Northern also, so I felt good about it at the time. Don't know if the shop pursued it with Northern or not. Wish I hadn't left my original in their scrap pile. Live and learn. Thanks for your input.

A lot of internet shipping comes out of Lake Mills IA warehouse I live about 30 minutes from there and grab stuff from time to time.

I have a radiator in the super c works just fine. The original cap with the hood ornament pointer fits but doesn’t line up is my only complaint I haven’t ever cared or spent much time to see what fixes that I would assume rotating the filler neck 45 degrees then re attaching.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I placed an order today for a radiator from YT (ASAP). We should know in a week or two how it all works out. I will let you all know when I know. Have to think positive.

I just showed up late to this conversation. After bad experiences with an on line radiator purchase and the only local radiator shop, my most recent radiator was purchased through a local dealer from A&I for a JD 2520. I couldn't have been happier. Fit and worked perfectly.
I hope your order works well for you.

Thank you Bob. Glad you had a good experience with a&I. I think they are a JD Co.
