Whee! We got 3/4 inch of rain this morning here in the great Southeastern desert of SC. More possible. Should keep the pasture growing for another week.

Saturday I helped a neighbor put up about 1/2 mile of single strand electric fence. His cows had been getting out every day for the last week, walking about 1/4 mile through woods to a field with 3 year old planted pines with a lot of grass in them. He has had cataract surgery and glacoma and didn't need to be working on a fence, but didn't need to chase cows either. I had been helping put the cows back in and now maybe they will stay in. 20-30 head out of his herd had been getting out near a busy highway.

We didnt get any here at the house that I know of, but saw where Sparkleburg got some. Its raining now, but so light it isnt doing any good. Its evaporating as soon as it hits the back porch. Mybe Cessarich will have better news.

consider yourselves lucky- here in greer we didnt get anything. last measurable rainfall was may 5. if no rain this week corn will miss. our pasture is dying. not to mention our yard. in paper today they said drought was "unprecedented in scope and severity", so it looks like we"re in this for the long haul. a few more weeks and they start banning water usage.

at least it"s cooler-not 97 like last week.

maybe jack roper will bring us some rain tomorrow.

Last time I saw him he looked like death warmed over, you mean hes still doing weather? I very, very seldom watch TV anymore except to watch the 6:00 news and Im so tired of Oldsmith and Cockdill its pathetic.Usually I watch the first 10 minutes, then go to the bathroom or something and then catch the weather and Im done for the night. Too much trash!!!! John
