Lord, we thank Thee for the gentle rains Thou hast sent to our crops; we beseech Thee to keep our harvest in mind and bestow upon us a similar blessing of gentle rains, may it be Thy will, forgetting not those who toil to bring in their hay crops.

Truly a gift from Above, friends.

Sure is nice to get the rain after a long dry spell. We needed rain badly and got 1 in. but about another inch in the form of hard rain and it was severe in some places. My neighbors got completely hailed out. It was big stuff, the size of baseballs in some places and completely flattened corn that was 4 feet tall. The soybeans were about knee high and all that is left is about a half inch tall piece of stem sticking out of the ground. My oats got creamed. I will at least have some place to haul manure now. I feel fortunate with my damage after looking at other damage. They say that the beans will come back if the main stem hasn't been damage to bad even though the leaves are all gone. The tassels in the corn hadn't emerged yet and if it isn't damaged below that point it will make corn yet but probably some field lodging later on. I will be very watch full of thunder storm forecast from now on.

Hi Buddy;
Looks & sounds as though you've had some serious weather.
Love the old barn in the background - we dont have that style of building here. Can you post some more close up photos of it please, outside & inside.
Thanks David

David, will do when I get a chance. That farm is on 40 acres that dad bought in 1960 and is 1 mile from where I live. That barn is 36 ft. by 90 ft. and built in 1898 and was a horse barn. The original owners where big farmers for their time and ran around 300 acres at the turn of the century.

Where are you in MN, that you got that hail and rain. Everything bad was north of me, just north like 5 miles. Freind is a crop insurance adjuster and he's been busy the last few days.

I live between Mankato and the Twin Cities. Two separate areas got hail on Wed. One from Jordan to New Prague, and then the one that came through here, from Henderson to Kilkenny.
