Rantout show travel

We are heading out to Rantoul Thursday. Our usual route from Ohio is west on 70 to Indy and then up 74. However last time I was on 70 from the Ohio line to Cambridge City it was in terrible shape, rougher than a farm lane. That was over a year ago. Wondering if they have done anything to fix it before we take a detour around it. Thanks in advance!

I'm heading out Wednesday morning with the Ratrod Deere pulling the toyhauler and Ranger inside. Just hoping it's not really HOT like the last two shows were..

Ya, been mid 90s out there but my forecast shows low 80s and near zero chance of rain Thur-Sat. I can deal with that.

Last time I was in Rantoul there was an armed guard at the gate.
Spent the entire summer of 1977 there in auto mechanics school.

3.5 beer for 18 to 20 year olds and some of the food you guys eat was a culture shock to someone that had never been out of the south (Louisiana) before.

I was out that way a couple months ago. 70 westbound from the OH line to indy was terrible. The trailer was in the air as often as it was on the road. 74 was slightly better, but I was at a crawl because it was a race weekend with insane traffic. I came home on 2 lane roads, they were a little better yet.

The hot day for Rantoul is 86* on Friday. 10* cooler than what we had at Pinckneyville last week. Heat didn’t do that show any favors, especially Saturday

Sadly Im gonna have to pass it up this year Ive attended several in the past. Although its like a golf cart convention with thousands of carts lol its the mother load of working antique machinery and sure worth experiencing. I will miss all my friends at the daily YT meet up at 11 each day under the big flag grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I just dont feel up to the drive and its no fun when you dont feel well grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Dont miss it and have a good show

Look up Bill Jansen and his 110 Case steam tractor, really nice guy. Was able to talk with him at Pinckneyville Illinois Threshermans this past weekend and learned a lot. I know I'll never complain about the trouble of chaining down my tractors after watching his crew get the steam tractor ready for hauling to Rantoul.

Sorry to hear you won't make it John. Won't be the same under the flag without you.
Also, you're the only guy I know who could identify JD Seller if he was there. :(

Thanks for that, we have other options that usually take little longer but sounds like the best bet for now
