on the implementlug behind the starter there are only two sets of numbers
C46
P*822252*
on the engine i cant read the numbers but looks like
ND 1141____
also on the side of the trans is "3 11 66"
Help!!!
Ive had three people look at these numbers and we all agree that this is what it says.

on the flat spot facing up.. behind the starter..

could the "p" be a B???? serial numbers started with a, b, or c.... if its a 3000 series...

then there will be a model number there also,,, and possible a date code there or on the opposite side. go to this site to help identify your tractor.

I know I know I keep hearing all what every one is saying but this is all that is stamped on it and it is definately a P

One trick I have learned is to take a picture from a couple of different angles using a digital camera. Things will show up that you cannot see by eyeballs alone.

Or put a piece of paper over the numbers and lay a wooden pencil down at an angle and rub the side of the pencil tip back and forth over the area where the numbers are.

ok.. lets back up..
is it a 3 cyl?
gas or diesel
how many gears and does it have high low range?
looking at the rear axle, is it square or round?
looking at left side of trans where clutch rod connects to clutch arm, are there two holes in the rod or one hole for the pin or bolt to go through?

let us know..
what are some of the casting numbers on the parts.. c6nn-xxxx or d8nn-xxxxx or what so we can tie down the year and model segments.Look at rear end, trans, and engine for these numbers.

3000 were only made in 3 places.. then came 3600s then came 3610s etc etc etc...

its a 3cyl diesel
4 speed with high and low shifter
most numbers are c5nn_______

I see a 3000 Ford with the earlier model Sheet metal of which thousands were built. There is nothing rare or special about it.One of the utility tractors ever built. There were British versions that had full fenders ,different light setups and locations and emergency brakes installed.Thousands of those also made there way over here.

Definitely not rare; and what you are calling a P is actually a B; as it is Basilton built, unfortunately someone has replaced those wonderful mudguard fenders with North American fenders.

If it was British Built with intentions of it being sent to North America, it would not have the hand brake, grille mounted headlights or some of the other traditional British features. My Basildon 4000 has the wider running boards and British fenders, push button horn and nothing else in the way of what is normally expected from a B-prefix Ford. But it was imported to the US from Canada in the early 2000's. I have seen a couple other B-prefix Fords similarly configured.

I did not say that the Basildon built tractors equipped as i stated were built to be sold in the United States. However thousands of those tractors did find there way over here. Most were several years old when they got here but, regardless of when, they did get here. And you are correct British built tractors also were sold here without the features i described in my earlier post.I was working on British built tractors at Ford dealerships in the mid seventies equipped with handbrakes and grill mounted headlights and the other features i mentioned.

I'm not being argumentative. My point is when considering the features of a British or Belgian built Ford there are two important factors.
1. What factory produced the tractor?
2. What market the tractor was built to be sold in?
I think we are both saying pretty much the same thing. Many folks who post here think that all B prefix Fords are equipped with all of what we consider European features which is incorrect.

1965-1967 hood & grille.
3 11 66 = March 11 1966.
6 B 22 = 1966 February 22.
Your tractor was probably assembled in April or May of 1966 so it is a 1966 model.

ok so how about the c46
what kind of pto do you think it is?
if i engage the lever and let the clutch out half way the pto shaft moves then i let the clutch out all the way and the tractor moves is this live independent pto then?

It looks like the flat spot where the model number, serial number and production code are supposed to be has been ground down at some point and some numbers were re-struck into it.

Check on the underside of the right half of the hood. The original foil sticker might still be there with the missing numbers.

Your description is live pto, not independent. They are 2 different things. Live pto is activated when the clutch is half way out, which allows you to run implements while the tractor is not moving even if the gear selector is in gear. Independent pto has a separate handle that you move to engage and disengage the pto, which operates totally independent of the clutch.
