Ratchet Turnbuckles

Found a pair of these, rated for 85000 lbs breaking strength, reckon what somebody bound down with this? They are heavy and huge. Would like to do some trading if any of y?all where in my neck of the woods.

They look like compactor or or some such latch binders.

Those weren't used as load binders. They were a permanent part of some piece of equipment.

Yes. The M&W wheel rakes use something very similar to those as width adjusters at the rear.

Then you should keep them for holding something down when the next big hurricane comes! But what will you anchor them to?

Not loader binders, usually are used to hold trash or cardboard compactors to the box they compact into

Look very much like some of the ratchets that hold barges together to make up a tow on the river. They are permanently anchored to one barge and a cable(called wires) connect to the other end and to another barge, takes 2 per barge

We used those type of ratchet binders when we transported combat equipment on rail cars.

The rail road would not allow us to use binders with hooks. The chain had to be attached to the rail car using shackles and shackle type binders.
